La pepiere
Muscadet Monnieres-Saint Fiacre
Lapepiere makes the best Muscadet on earth, and I am willing to fight anyone who disagrees. Here we have a single vineyard bottling from their oldest vines. Brimming with acid, chalk, and a hint of the sea, one could mistake this for Grand Cru Chablis at a fraction of the price.
Pairing: Sea Scallops With Brown Butter
Fun fact: Olivier tells the best fisherman tales
Lapierre
Morgon
Many of you attended our vertical wine dinner with Lapierre that we held at The Table last year and got to see the magic of these wines. Lapierre is the King of Beaujolais. They make Gamay that can age for decades or can be popped on a Tuesday evening. Think cherry cola, banana runts, iron, and forest floor. A red that you can honestly drink with anything.
Pairing: Oklahoma Onion Burgers
Fun fact: Marcel Lapierre was the founder of the Gang of Four, cementing Beaujolais as fine wine
Matthiasson
Villages Napa Cabernet
Steve and Jill Matthisson would call themselves farmers not winemakers, and honestly, that is what we need more of in the USA. Their Cabernets evoke a sense of 1960’s Napa. Restrained, food friendly, and more about place than oak. This is how Cabernet should taste, bright red fruit, green bell pepper, and silky tannins.
Pairing: Porchetta Pork Chops
Fun fact: Steve and Jill make legendary jams
